In fact, ITCC literally was snatching defeat from a commanding position at one stage. After a splendid batting performance led by the rejuvenated Anil NT, Predators were gasping for breath at 69/1 after 20 Overs requiring another 148 runs in the remaining 15 overs. The advent of new batsman Kiran, who blasted the tiring tigers to all parts of the ground, paved the way for a thrilling last over finish.
But, there were lot of positives for Tigers considering this is just their 3rd competitive match. There was an exciting 51-run opening partnership between Anil NT and the consistent Biju. Biju again proving his worth at the top of the order. Rajeev, after the initial woes, finding his touch to blast an almost run a ball unbeaten 37. But the innings of the day belonged to Anil NT. After a rather sedate start, NT gradually became confident and played some spanking shots all around the ground. This innings is certain to give him a lot of confidence and augurs well for future KCL matches.
Bowling was led by pacy Mithun and the opening spell from him was one of the best seen at this level. Consistently beating the bat, the batsmen survived purely on luck. On any other day, the opponents would have been 5 or 6 wickets down. Abhishek and Rajeev provided great support at the beginning.
Hopefully ITCC will build on these positives and come up victorious soon. Though the defeat hurt many, this match definitely have provided confidence to many in the team.
